The bus attempted to edge its way out into the thoroughfare which was like a tiny tributary joining Niagara Falls. An irritated honk immediately sent it back to the side of the road, its passengers jolting forward as the driver stamped on a well-worn brake.
A cacophony of engines, horns, exhausts and sirens filled the air, punctuated by profanities issued by indignant drivers. There was a palpable urgency; every vehicle had somewhere to be - a mission to fulfil of some sort - although, given the the infrastructure and the collective attention to road safety, it was questionable whether anybody would get anywhere at all!
Potholes sprang up like craters in plasticine planet so that any navigation of the road ahead meant dodging, diverting, twisting and turning or else alloys and mudcaps would be scattered loudly into the metallic throng.
